Way out in rural Wyoming, near Greybull, is a prehistoric treasure that wasn't unearthed until about twenty years ago.

The Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite in Wyoming was discovered in 1997 by a paleontologist, and the BLM site was dedicated in 2002. It's home to hundreds of real dinosaur tracks and footprints.

You'll rarely find a crowd here - most Wyomingites don't even know it exists! When you visit, you'll be offered the opportunity to see authentic, fossilized dinosaur footprints.

These tracks are nearly 170 million years old, and interpretive signs explain the process of aging and discovering them. The site is so young that scientists aren't even sure which dinosaurs left them - yet.

This is a primitive site with no services, so be prepared for intense sun and Wyoming weather as you explore.

Getting down into the gulch is an amazing experience - you'll find all sorts of fossils and tracks right in front of your eyes.

Some footprints are enormous, some are smaller than your thumb - but each one tells a story and this site is sure to leave you in awe.
