This Wyoming Attraction Was Just Named The Most Sensational In The State

Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park is renowned for its numerous geysers and hot springs, including the famous Old Faithful.

Taking up over 3,470 square miles, it's filled with lush forests, fascinating wildlife, and geothermal oddities. There are enough natural attractions to keep you occupied and entertained for months. There's one attraction in Yellowstone, however, that recently garnered attention as the most sensational of them all.

Upper Geyser Basin is an exceptionally glittering star among many in Yellowstone National Park. Not only is it where you'll find the most famous geyser in the park, but it also contains the largest number of hot springs and spouting geysers in one place on the planet. The Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park is brimming over with hundreds of geysers and hot springs, each one unique and intriguing in its own way.

The Old Faithful visitor center is a good place to start your exploration of the area.

Here, you'll have access to all the information you could possibly want about all the geothermal attractions in the park, including predicted eruption times for the geysers that are consistent enough to allow Park Rangers to calculate when they'll be going off.

In addition to predicted eruptions, you can also get a map of the basin at the visitor center.

Simply wandering around the basin is an option, but the map will allow you to plan out your route, taking the eruption times into account.

Since Old Faithful is just steps away from the visitor center, it can be your first stop along the way. Unfortunately, nature didn't coordinate the 5 predictable geysers in Upper Geyser Basin to go off in consecutive order from south to north.

Named for its predictability, Old Faithful can be counted on to erupt about every 44 to 125 minutes.

If it had, though, your journey through the basin would take you to Castle Geyser next...

This cone geyser goes off about twice a day, every 10 to 12 hours.

...then Grand Geyser...

This geyser is the tallest and most predictable in the world, shooting bursts of hot water and steam over 200 feet in the air every 7 to 15 hours.

...and Beauty Pool.

This stunning hot spring is connected to Chromatic Spring nearby. The water levels in each react to the fluctuations of the other, so if the water in one spring rises and overflows, the level in the other spring goes down. The water in both stays between 164 and 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

Northeast of Beauty Pool, you'll come to Daisy Geyser...

Daisy is one of the most consistent geysers in Yellowstone, erupting about every 110 to 240 minutes.

...then journey on to Riverside Geyser right on the bank of the Firehole River.

The Riverside Geyser erupts about every 5 1/2 to 7 hours.

Beyond Riverside Geyser, you'll find another colorfully vivid hot spring, Morning Glory Pool.

Seismic activity affects this pool - there are times when it erupts just like a geyser, though not consistently enough to predict.
