The One Annual Winter Festival In Wyoming Every Wyomingite Should Bundle Up For At Least Once

When winter is such a long and cold part of the year, what are Wyomingites supposed to do? Well, luckily we're a creative bunch, and all throughout the cold dark months, winter festivals light up our towns. One of the newest is soon to become a family tradition for those in and around the Big Horns. Make plans to attend the Sheridan WYO Winter Rodeo! This year, it's held from February 12-20, and it's sure to be a weekend of events that keep everyone on their toes.

The Sheridan WYO Winter Rodeo is a fairly new event in the Big Horns, but it's the talk of the town all season long.

Taking inspiration from similar events in Sundance and Pinedale, the WYO Winter Rodeo brings snowy skijoring action to downtown Sheridan.

The Rodeo, dubbed "Wyoming's wildest winter event", is a blast for spectators and participants alike.

The whole town of Sheridan gets into the spirit of the season, with local restaurants, shops, and bars offering specials and events for the visiting crowd. Before the big Skijoring events, there are family-friendly sledding days and local celebrations.

This is a rodeo unlike any other, though, as it's not held in an arena, and it focuses on one event only - skijoring.

Teams of horses, riders, and skiers compete in different courses and divisions, both as individuals and in larger teams.

The event is held right in town, which makes it a really fun way to spend a day exploring one of the best towns in the West!

You'll get to see incredibly entertaining action, from speedy skiing to wild wipeouts. These feats are no joke and these skiers would make a day at Jackson Hole look easy!
