It Wouldn’t Be A True Wyoming Summer If You Didn’t Attend The Cody Stampede

Have you attended the Cody Stampede yet? Is it an annual tradition for your friends and family, or just something you head out for whenever you get the chance to make the trip? Regardless of where you live in the Cowboy State, a few days at the Cody Stampede is a must-do for anyone who has spent any time out here in Wyoming. It's a longstanding tradition, and there's nothing like experiencing it in person!

All summer long, cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo fans head to the wild west town of Cody to see the famous Cody Stampede or Cody Nite Rodeo.

The Cody Stampede has been a part of this region's culture and tradition for generations. Take a peek at this photo of the 1923 Cody Stampede Parade to see just how much it has changed over the years!

The Nite Rodeo runs every single night for a big chunk of the summer, and the Stampede itself is a multi-day celebration around the Fourth of July.

If you've never witnessed a live rodeo before, you're in for a wild night. Horses galloping after calves, cutting cows from the herd, sorting cattle - all of the equine sports are inspired by tasks that ranch horses, cowboys, and cowgirls have to keep up with on the open range.

Some of the sports now seem more like entertainment, but even riding saddle broncs imitates how cowboys used to train horses. Of course, today, training is very different, but good saddle broncs have a blast launching cowboys into the ground.

The Stampede weekend is when the real fun comes to town, with parades, family games, live entertainment, vendors, and so much more. It's truly a sight to see!
