There are abandoned towns that are fun to explore and then there are creepy places in Wyoming that leave you feeling uneasy. Once a town so full of life, is now a place where people no longer want to even visit. For a variety of reasons, these towns are left abandoned, and often times they take on a spooky atmosphere. An example of this is Gebo, Wyoming, which may be the creepiest abandoned town in the whole state.

Gebo is a town located in the northern central part of the state. As one of the ghost towns in Wyoming, it's located in Hot Springs County just north of Thermopolis.

The city was established as a coal town in 1907 and named after Samuel Gebo who immigrated to America from Canada.

Gebo founded the Owl Creek Coal Company and the first mine in the area. The town remained an active mining town until 1938.

Once a thriving town of over 20,000 people, the town had a pool hall, school, bank, boarding houses, a town band, and outside of town another facility for lonely miners. Today, the town is abandoned with only remnants of buildings still standing. At its height, Gebo was the largest town in Hot Springs County.

The remains of the town were bulldozed in 1971. Only the cemetery is left intact.

Sadly, most of the graves are of infants and children. Some people have even reported hearing a crying baby in the cemetery.

Take a look at a few more images of the cemetery. You can easily see why this is the creepiest abandoned town in Wyoming.
