There’s more to Sheboygan than great brats and a gorgeous lake view. Each summer, little fairies descend on the city for days of family fun. The Fairyfolk Festival is one of Wisconsin’s most enchanting events, and if you’re a parent to a little fairy or gnome, you’ll want to put it on the calendar for August 1 through 6 this year. Here's why.
If you haven’t been to Sheboygan for a while, you may be surprised by the beauty of the city – the city’s waterfront is gorgeous and there are some great travel-worthy attractions.
The city’s most magical spot – especially for little ones – is Bookworm Gardens.
It’s an enchanting botanical garden that combines the magic of literature with the beauty of nature to create an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages - and even fairies.
The sprawling gardens are divided into several themed gardens - each is inspired by a different children's book or literary concept.
From "The Secret Garden" to "Charlotte's Web" and "Alice in Wonderland," the gardens pay homage to timeless stories, leaving little visitors feeling as though they've stepped into the very pages of their favorite books.
The Fairyfolk Festival is a whimsical family event held at the gardens. It’s a week of stories, art making, and more. It’s all centered around magic!
The event includes a lot of fun for little ones and a chance to experience all the little magical spots in the gardens. There’s a fairy garden contest, you can help build a fairy village or dance amidst a flurry of bubbles, and hunt for gnomes. Be sure to come dressed like your favorite fairy, wizard, dragon, or gnome!
This event seems like just the thing to keep little ones engaged this summer! Learn more about Fairyfolk Festival on the Bookworm Gardens website. Be sure to get all your summer sun and fun gear at REI. Wisconsin has an abundance of amazing destinations. Here's where to find them.
