Hold the phone and mark the calendar: this here is big news. Wait for it... Wait for it... There's a Hallmark Christmas movie being filmed right here in West Virginia, for release this Christmas if all goes as planned!
As exciting as that news is, we're actually not too surprised. In fact, it's about time a Hallmark movie was filmed here in West Virginia. So many of West Virginia's beautiful mountain towns outdo themselves at Christmas each year.
But the one to be featured as a movie town is White Sulphur Springs.
More specifically, White Sulphur Springs's Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
To anyone who knows anything about the Greenbrier, especially at Christmastime, this will come as no surprise.
This popular, luxurious West Virginia resort is beautiful at anytime of year, but its transformation is truly magical at Christmastime.
And if you happened to visit the Greenbrier this summer, you might have gotten a taste of it, at the resort's Christmas in July event. Christmas in July? It might have puzzled you at first, if you caught wind of it.
But suddenly it all makes sense. Yes of course the Greenbrier would host a Christmas in July event... especially with a film crew on location filming a Christmas movie!
You may even see some friends in some of the scenes; the Greenbrier put out a local casting call for extras to help in filming some of the scenes. So mark your calendars and don't miss the upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie filmed right here in West Virginia at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
And interestingly, this isn't the first movie connection, or even the most famous, that the Greenbrier boasts. See that chandelier? Would you believe it's from the set of "Gone With The Wind" ... because it is!
Although it's said that the final movie title hasn't been set, rumored titles include "Christmas At The Greenbrier" and "Greenbrier Christmas." So it should be pretty easy to identify which Hallmark Christmas movie was filmed in West Virginia come December! Will you be watching? Bring on the popcorn! In the meantime, here are a few other already-released movies that feature a West Virginia setting.
