The West Virginia Interstate Fair, A Great Little Local Secret, Is Good, Old-Fashioned Family Fun

The West Virginia Interstate Fair in Mineral Wells offers a variety of affordable entertainment, showcasing agriculture, crafts, and family-friendly activities.

If you're looking for good, old-fashioned fair fun, pack up the family and head to this year's West Virginia Interstate Fair, located in Mineral Wells just south of Parkersburg.  While there are a great many street fairs and county fairs in West Virginia, The West Virginia Interstate Fair is a perfect way to enjoy a variety of entertainment at a single, very affordable price. Plus, it's always fun to eat some fair foods in West Virginia.

For almost fifty years, the West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition has showcased the best of the region's agriculture, industry, science, arts, and crafts, worked with Future Farmers of America and 4-H to support youth development, and provided families with summer fun of all sorts.

Among the many attractions of the fair week are livestock shows, crafts, and exhibits ranging from sewing to food to photography to antique machinery to animals, a flea market, and many carnival rides.

And then of course there are the ever-popular activities and contests where the whole family can participate: the baby pageant, the diaper derby, the kids pedal tractor pull, bingo, the spitting contest, the watermelon eating contest, the haybale toss, the stone throw, and the bubblegum blowing contest.

This is your chance to earn money and fame on those skills you've got that nobody else in your family appreciates!

For those more into track action, there are truck and tractor pulls, ATV races, and the mug bog events.

There's live music every night, and you can contribute to the entertainment yourself on karaoke night!

And of course, there's a whole range of concessions and food to provide the full fair experience.

As in the past, there are various days with special offerings. Those include Kids' Day on Wednesday when you'll find special events and activities for younger children. Tuesday is Senior Citizens' Day with special discounts for seniors, and Thursday is Armed Forces Day when free admission is offered to all active military personnel.

Things heat up on Friday and Saturday, when the biggest events are held, like the truck and tractor pulls and the main mud bogging and ATV racing events.
