This Moonlight Haunted Cemetery Tour In West Virginia Isn’t For The Faint Of Heart
Discover the best hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest, known for their stunning scenic views and diverse landscapes.
The Haunted History And Legends Tours Of Martinsburg, WV gives visitors a chance to hear about the history of the area, as well as some of the spooky legends and ghost stories that have developed over time. There are seasonal tours available this fall, and you won't want to miss your chance to attend!
The tours take place in the historic Green Hill Cemetery.
This massive, Victorian era cemetery is the final resting place of many doctors, lawyers, and fallen Civil War Veterans. There are some darker stories too, of murderers buried in the cemetery, as well as lynching victims.
The cemeter is hauntingly beautiful in the daytime.
At night, however, it can get downright spooky.
There have been a few creepy experiences that happened here, and the tour gives you the opportunity to hear those stories in the pale moonlight.
Some people have seen the apparitions of fallen Civil War soldiers.
Others have seen a mysterious "Woman in White" said to roam the cemetery.
Perhaps most disturbing of all are the tales of a screaming woman with her hair on fire.
If that's not spooky enough, you can also tour the historic General Adam Stephen House by candlelight.
This colonial limestone house was constructed circa 1770-80, as the home for one of Martinsburg's founders.
The home has some spooky ghost stories as well, and some visitors have witnessed a strange fog floating through the house.
The house sits over mysterious underground tunnels.
It's uncertain what purpose the tunnels served to the homeowners, but they may have been part of a plan to escape attacks from the British or other enemies.
If these tunnels could talk, what stories would they tell?
