There’s A Lentil Festival In Washington And It’s Just As Wacky And Wonderful As It Sounds
The National Lentil Festival in Pullman, Washington, celebrates lentils with food, entertainment, and activities, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for...lentils? Well, if you live in or around Pullman, Washington, you do! Every year, the city honors this tasty legume with a festival. It's one of the most unique festivals in Washington, attracting thousands to celebrate it. So let's dive into the National Lentil Festival located on the beautiful fields of Reaney Park.
Since 1989, the Lentil Festival has been a highly anticipated and attended event.
It was intended to bring visitors into and promote the Palouse Region, known for its agricultural bounties.
While the festival used to be a full weekend, starting in 2023, it has been shortened to one fun-filled day.
And that day is Saturday, August 19th.
Among its many sponsors include the non-profit USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council and the Pullman Chamber of Commerce.
And don't forget the festival's resident mascot, Tase T. Lentil!
Be sure to grab a free bowl of lentil chili from the world's largest bowl of chili....
Not kidding about this! Check out this vat of lentil chili!
Or grab something else from the many available food vendors onsite.
While lentils are, of course, the main event here, there are plenty of other things happening, such as live entertainment.
For this year, the Main Stage will feature five music acts.
There is also a parade in Downtown Pullman that begins on Saturday at 12 p.m.
There are even a bunch of sporting events like softball, tennis, pickleball, and basketball tournaments, and even a 5k run.
There is also the Lentil Land Kids Area for science fun, arts and crafts, magic, and more!
It is certainly a day that you do not want to miss!
