Washington’s First Indoor Nerf Gun Arena Is Just As Much Fun As It Sounds

Paintball has been a popular pastime in Washington since the 90s. But for the slightly younger crowd, Nerf Gun arenas have been popping up all over the state in recent years. Although it recently moved locations, The Tag Zone has been around for nearly a decade. And whether you're a child, a teen, or just a kid at heart, there's no denying that this place is a total blast.

The Tag Zone moved to its current location in Bremerton in July of 2019.

Before that, it was located in Des Moines, only moving when the original building sold.

Owner Johnny Basco came up with the idea for his business while thinking of birthday party ideas for his son.

For his son's 10th birthday, he set up cardboard obstacles and bought several Nerf guns for the party guests. The reactions he got from others that day were all he needed to make the decision to start his own business.

Needless to say, The Tag Zone was an instant hit. And aside from a brief closure due to Covid, they've been going strong since their opening.

Although the team here supports friendly rivalries, they never keep score. Here, it's all about sportsmanship and having a great time.

You can rent the space for birthday parties, school fundraisers, sports banquets, and other private events.

Adults sometimes host their own corporate events here. While children have to be in kindergarten or older to play, the space certainly isn't limited to kids.

If you don't have an event coming up, you can also participate in open play matches.

Open Play rates are just $10 for the first hour and $8 for every hour after that.
