Washington State has its share of unique attractions and extraordinary destinations. After all, not every state can claim to be home to a rubber chicken museum or a giant concrete troll! Nevertheless, few people know there is a puppet museum in Washington and it's one of the quirkiest places you'll ever go.
The Valentinetti Puppet Museum is located at 280 4th Street in Bremerton.
Curated in part from the expansive collection of renowned puppeteer Aurora Valentinetti, the non-profit museum opened in 1999.
As a former University of Washington student and professor, Aurora Valentinetti taught drama for 50 years, sparking an interest in children's theatre and puppetry that would span a lifetime.
Celebrating the art of puppetry, the Valentinetti Puppet Museum showcases the artistry of generations of puppet makers.
A collection of permanent displays and rotating exhibits decorate the museum to the delight of visitors.
By 2008, Valentinetti's collection had included over 1,000 carefully preserved puppets, stage props, and accessories.
Of course, children of all ages will enjoy the play area with puppets, books, musical instruments, and two puppet theaters.
You'll undoubtedly recognize some of the faces you'll see at the museum like Alice In Wonderland ...
... as well as the Queen's gardeners with their paintbrushes and cans.
Although admission to the museum is free, donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.
The Valentinetti Puppet Museum is an unexpected little gem in Bremerton that the whole family will enjoy. While the museum is currently located at 280 Fourth Street, they have had many different locations throughout the 25-year history, including 257 Fourth Street!
