The New Attraction in Seattle, Washington We Can’t Wait to Experience
Overlook Walk is a new landmark in Seattle that not only provides convenience, but also incredible views and a place to relax.
Seattle is known for its incredible landmarks. Places like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, and even the Great Wheel attract individuals near and far and help make this Washington city a bucket-list-worthy destination. Now, there is a new landmark that will add even more to the Emerald City and it’s a place that I can’t wait to explore myself. It is the Overlook Walk at Seattle's Waterfront Park.
Waterfront Park is one of our favorite places to visit in Seattle. This large public park, located on the central waterfront in downtown Seattle, is home to some of the most iconic Washington State attractions including the Great Wheel, Pier 58, Railroad Way, and now Overlook Walk.
Overlook Walk is an elevated public park that crosses Alaskan Way, a busy street that runs along the Elliott Bay waterfront. This elevated walkway is designed to connect Pike Place Market to the waterfront so individuals can access both bucket-list-worthy destinations without the need to cross the busy street.
And while the walk brings safety and convenience to visitors at the waterfront, it also brings much more. From this elevated park, you can enjoy some of the most gorgeous views of Seattle and the surrounding area. For example, here you can observe 360-degree views of downtown Seattle, Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park, the Olympic mountains, Mount Rainier, and, of course, Elliott Bay.
You’ll also find places to sit, rest, and enjoy the views, as well as slides and play features for a day of fun for young children. Coming in 2025, small businesses will also open in the area, providing excellent shopping and eating opportunities as well.
Construction for the Overlook Walk began in 2022 and it officially opened to the public in October 2024. This is one of the last major upgrades planned for the area after the Alaska Way Viaduct was demolished. It is also the largest civic project in Seattle since the 1962 World’s Fair.
If you have spent time in this area before, when you visit today, you’ll notice the difference and the ease of getting from the waterfront to Pike Place Market. But, I strongly recommend you don’t rush. Enjoy this new elevated destination — take your time and enjoy the views. It’s incredible.
