This fascinating museum is located in a former jail and it offers intriguing information about the building's past. The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail is located at 10 Ashby St, Warrenton, VA 20186.

Though the museum may be tiny in size, it's positively packed with unusual displays and fascinating insights into the jail.

The self-guided tour, which can be completed in less than an hour, begins with the original jail.

The tour then proceeds to the newer jail which operated until the 1960s. The maximum security cell is one of the most stark areas of the jail.

Along the way, you can read about each area of the original and newer jail and the purpose it served.
