Crossing This 172-Year-Old Bridge In Vermont Is Like Walking Through History

If you're like me and enjoy discovering fun facts, you might be interested in learning that Vermont has over 100 covered bridges throughout the state. One of the oldest and most historic is the Arlington Covered Bridge in Bennington County. Also known as Bridge at the Green, this historic bridge was built in 1852 and crosses Batten Kill. The Arlington Green Covered Bridge is currently 172 years old. In 1973 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places for being one of the oldest original bridges in the state.

To reach this historical landmark in Arlington, you'll need to head to Vermont Route 313.

Ironically, this picture-perfect setting was near where Norman Rockwell lived. As the famous American artist worked, he enjoyed epic views of the historical Arlington Green Covered Bridge and local church.
