This Massive Antique Mall in Vermont Has Its Very Own Restaurant and Snack Shack
Quechee Gorge Village in the quaint town of Quechee, Vermont, is your one-stop shop for fantastic treasure hunting and delicious food and drinks.
When most people hear of Quechee, Vermont, the first thing that pops into their heads is the breathtaking Quechee Gorge, a magnificent marvel of nature that is one of the most popular hiking spots in Vermont. While the gorge is the town’s main attraction, and certainly well worth a visit, it is not the only local spot drawing visitors to this area. The nearby Quechee Gorge Village is a nearby gem that is a treasure trove for antique lovers and collectors alike. And that’s not all, the Village also has some fantastic food!
Quechee Gorge Village is a must-stop for me whenever I am in the area. The Village is located just a few miles from the gorge, so it is a convenient place to grab a bite to eat and do some antiquing. The two main stores within the village are the Vermont Antique Mall and the Quechee General Store. The general store is a fantastic place to shop for maple syrup, handmade crafts, and authentic Vermont-made products. I purchased some delicious maple syrup here just a few weeks ago.
If you are an avid collector of old items, you are sure to find something that catches your eye when you visit the Vermont Antique Mall. Housed in a 17,000-square-foot antique barn, the mall is a thrifter's paradise. You can literally spend hours here perusing booth after booth of knick-knacks, home furnishings, and collectibles. You might even get lucky and stumble across that rare book you have been desperately searching for or the vintage character lunchbox you owned in the 1980s.
All that shopping is bound to make you hungry, and luckily there are two fantastic eateries within the village - the Public House Pub and the Quechee Snack Shack. The Public House Pub is housed in a renovated Worcester Diner Car that dates back to 1946. The restaurant serves delicious classic pub fare and yummy drinks.
The Quechee Snack Shack is a takeout joint that is perfect if you want to grab a bite to go. The homemade sandwiches made for a fabulous quick lunch after my family’s last gorge hike. I highly recommend trying the Burrata sandwich (fresh tomatoes, burrata cheese, salami, and basil on toasted sourdough). The Snack Shack also sells drinks, treats, and some local handmade products.
