5. The Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge.

This covered bridge in Wolcott was built in 1908 and formerly carried the St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad over the Lamoille River. At some point in its existence, it was threatened with demolition in favor of a steel truss. A pier was built under the bridge, and four steel girders were built to support the bridge's load.

6. Long Trail Suspension Bridge.

This isn't a place to cross if you have a fear of heights, but the view from above is breathtaking - and it technically gets you even higher!

This view from above shows the Taftsville Covered bridge, which was severely damaged from the Hurricane Irene in August 2011 but managed to stay intact. It remained closed for repairs for two years until September 2013.
