If There’s One Fall Festival You Attend in Utah, Make It the Green River Melon Days Festival
The Green River Melon Days Festival in Utah is a beloved annual event celebrating the town's famous melons with various family-friendly activities.
Fall is one of our favorite times of the year. The cooler weather, pumpkin patches, and fall foliage all add to this enchanting season in the Beehive State. However, there is one more thing to love about fall in Utah—the annual Melon Days Festival. Hosted in Green River each year, this small town festival is one you will not want to miss. In fact, the Green River Melon Days Festival is one annual event the entire family will count down to every single year, and arguably one of the best fall festivals in Utah.

Utahns have enjoyed the Green River Melon Days Festival for well over a century. Since 1906, this long-running festival has been a large celebration of the town’s famous melon varieties and their growers. The event takes place on the third weekend in September each year, and the entire weekend is packed with activities. In 2025, the festival will be held on September 19th and 20th at O.K. Anderson Park.
Melon Days begins Friday and features activities the entire family will enjoy, from a golf tournament to pony and "unicorn" rides for children and a softball tournament. Saturday is the day you will not want to miss. The day begins with a 5k run and walk and the FFA Breakfast in the Park, followed by the popular Melon Days Parade. The parade will begin at the City Maintenance Building on West Main and end at Book Cliff Lodge, and you'll see plent of melon-themed vehicles participating!

After the parade, head to Green River's city park to shop at the Vendor Fair and enjoy free melon sampling ALL DAY LONG! You can even put your melon carving skills to the test by creating masterpieces from local melons. Several other events, such as a photo contest and a fun shoot, are also scheduled throughout the day.
Put on your dancing shoes on Saturday afternoon through the evening because the park will be alive with live music! Grab your family and friends and spend an evening listening to several popular musicians.

There’s no doubt that the Melon Days Festival in Green River is going to keep you busy, smiling, and laughing. If there’s only one fall festival in Utah that you plan to attend, make sure this weekend event is at the top of your list.
