The Abandoned Remains Of This Once Beloved Theme Park Are Heartbreaking

Geauga Lake was once a popular amusement park in Bainbridge Township and Aurora, Ohio. It first opened in 1887, and was only closed in 2008. The park has undergone some stunning changes in the past eight years. YouTuber ‘DiJi Aerial Media’ created this video with two Phantom 3 Advanced drones. This drone footage of Geauga Lake will give you an inside look at this hauntingly beautiful abandoned theme park.

Geauga Lake was originally known as Picnic Lake. It was a popular spot for swimming and had its own dance hall.

The park's first ride was a steam-powered carousel, installed in 1889.

In 1925, the park opened the then-largest wooden rollercoaster in the world: the Big Dipper.

Now, all that remains of that ride is a brittle-looking wooden skeleton.
