A Trip To The Oldest Amusement Park In Near Austin Will Make You Feel Nostalgic

Kiddie Park in San Antonio, the oldest children's amusement park in the U.S., offers a nostalgic experience with classic rides and games.

If you grew up in Texas, odds are that you spent some time at Kiddie Park in San Antonio when you were a child. This little amusement park is just 80 miles south of Austin, and if you want to step back in time to your childhood, you need to visit.

Kiddie Park is the oldest children's amusement park in the United States. It opened in 1925, and has been entertaining kids and families ever since.

This charming park is a throwback right to the 1920s. The rides have all been lovingly maintained over the years, and they're a welcome change from the more commercialized modern amusement parks you'll find elsewhere.

The entire park was renovated back in 2009, and while the classic rides are old, they're still in perfect working order.

If you grew up here, you probably have memories of riding in these little boats.

Most of the rides in the park don't have height restrictions, so kids ages 1-12 can join in the fun. Parents can join their kids on the carousel, helicopters and flying saucers.

The Herschell Spillman carousel features beautiful, hand-carved horses. It's a rare gem to find such a piece of history in operation today.

Old-school carnival games will keep you entertained for awhile, too. These classics are just the same they've been since the 20s - spill the milk, pop the balloon, toss the ring... and win a prize!

You will find a modern addition to Kiddie Park. The arcade offers the latest spin on classics like Skee-Ball and pinball.

A visit to an amusement park isn't complete without a snack or two. You'll find cotton candy, funnel cakes, corn dogs and more to tempt your taste buds.

You'll find Kiddie Park about 80 miles south of Austin at 3015 Broadway Street, San Antonio. It's open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 7 PM.
