Texas’ First-Ever Banana Pudding Festival Is Happening In September And Your Sweet Tooth Will Love You For Going

Slaton Bakery in Texas is hosting its first-ever Banana Pudding Festival featuring live music, vendors, and various flavors of banana pudding.

Banana pudding is one of the most quintessentially Southern desserts out there, and one historic Texas bakery is hosting an entire festival dedicated to it. The first-ever Texas Banana Pudding Festival is happening this September at Slaton Bakery in the town of Slaton, featuring live music, vendors, and - of course - lots and lots of luscious banana pudding.

Open since 1923, Slaton Bakery is a fixture in its small, close-knit West Texas community.

Although the surrounding area has changed a lot over the years, the bakery remains a cherished place where locals gather to catch up and enjoy delicious treats baked from the heart.

Slaton Bakery recently celebrated its 100-year anniversary - which, in the food industry, is a huge deal. Most restaurants don't survive past the three-year mark, so this humble, unassuming locale is truly a rare gem.

The Centennial celebration saw a packed house, with locals taking to the streets outside the bakery to delight in food, drinks, and prizes.

In honor of its full century in business, Slaton Bakery is hosting its first-ever banana pudding festival on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Tickets - or "Pudding Passes," as the bakery is calling them, are $20 per person and include samples of four scrumptious flavors of banana pudding.

With offerings like Texas whiskey and even one pudding that is layered with slices of banana nut bread, your sweet tooth will love you for attending the festival.

Of course, the pudding cups are topped with the bakery's world-famous vanilla wafers, which are often voted the best in Texas. I get these at my local H-E-B all the time and can't stop eating them once I've started.

Other festival activities include live music and an outdoor market with a wide assortment of vendors.

Visit the Slaton Bakery website or Slaton Bakery Facebook page for more information about the Texas Banana Pudding Festival, and/or to purchase tickets.
