Fredericksburg consistently ranks among the most charming small towns in Texas, and Christmastime is no exception. During the holiday season, this quaint, Hill Country destination sparkles with magical lights for 55 straight nights. Come along as we show you why the Fredericksburg Lights in Texas event is one of the most popular of the year. Enjoy the show while you stroll down Main Street, sip hot cocoa, shop for festive gifts, and more!
Centrally located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is often compared to Hallmark movies at Christmastime.
In fact, Southern Living called it the "Best Small Town for Christmas in the South." But we already knew that Fredericksburg was something special!
From holiday shopping on Main Street...
... to the annual lighting of the 30-foot-tall German Christmas pyramid, festive Texas traditions abound. It all kicks off on November 22, 2023, the first day of the "55 Nights of Fredericksburg Lights" celebration.
Each year, the town square - better known as Marketplatz - is set alight with holiday cheer for those 55 consecutive nights.
And classic holiday tunes will fill your ears as you take in the whimsical scene with wide-eyed amazement.
No matter where you look, brilliant light displays cover every inch of the grounds.
Especially unique is the Singing Christmas Tree, which features choir members on each tier singing timeless carols.
Don't miss out on the Eisbahn Outdoor Ice Skating, offered daily from about the end of November until sometime the first week of January.
It's real ice, too—none of that plastic stuff some places use—and twinkling lights overhead add an air of holiday enchantment. It's one of the most fun places to go ice skating in Texas!
Other seasonal events include a special holiday edition of Fredericksburg Trade Days...
... wine tastings, a Christmas display at the Pioneer Museum, and so much more festive fun.
It's totally free to view the light display. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. nightly, with a short audio program at 6 p.m. detailing the history of the German Christmas pyramid.
When the countdown to illumination starts, you'll find yourself buzzing with anticipation, waiting for the grand moment when it reaches zero!
