Ride Through Tennessee On The Epic Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster

When you first call to mind a roller coaster, you're probably going to think of large amusement parks and cotton candy stands and massive crowds waiting under a heated summer sky. In Pigeon Forge, however, the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is one of the best small-town experiences in all of Tennessee! Sure, it may look a little kitschy from the outside, but once you find out this coaster has its own claim to national fame, you may just change your tune.

The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is known as the longest downhill ride in the United States, and is open to both children and adults. You will have to make sure your tiniest tyke is 38" to ride, of course. Safety first!

Not only is the thrill affordable and fun, but it will take you straight through the heart of some of the most beautiful mountainland in the Volunteer State.

The track comes in at more than a mile long, and it takes a whopping eight minutes to complete!

The coaster cars are designed to carry two visitors at a time, though you can choose to ride alone. There are even rain shields available if the weather gets a little misty.

Not only will you have the chance to ride rain or shine, but you control your own velocity - up to 27 miles per hour!

It's a unique experience you can only get one place, and it costs a mere $18 for adults and $14 for children ages 7 to 12.

The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is currently open from 10 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 11 p.m. on Sundays.
