The Great Smoky Mountains are filled with unique attractions. The natural beauty of this wonderful park mixed with the brilliant engineered minds that have created interesting ways to experience this mountainous landscape. There is a walking bridge in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, that takes the stunning views of the mountains and gives you a whole new perspective with an amazing experience to go with it.
The Gatlinburg SkyLift Park in the center of town is surrounded by the beautiful Smoky Mountains.
So when you are looking for unique views this is one of the best places to go. Once you get your tickets you will be guided to the Skylift. This ski lift was the first four-season scenic chairlift in the south built in 1954. It has since been redone in 2017 to allow a comfortable 3 person ride to the top of the mountain. When you start on the Skylift you will glide high over the Cliff Branch River and then ascend to enjoy a peaceful and scenic view.
When you arrive at the top you will be able to see gorgeous panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the city below.
Relax in an Adirondack chair, or take in the sights from the many viewing platforms. Every angle you turn you will have amazing views from the SkyDeck.
When you’re ready make your way up the stairs to the entrance of the SkyBridge.
Marvel at this 700-foot-long bridge spanning across two mountains. You will be walking on the longest pedestrian cable bridge in the country. The SkyBridge is 1,800 feet above sea level, and 500 feet above the city of Gatlinburg.
Being a suspension bridge the whole thing will swing and sway as you walk from one end to the other.
It may seem intense being that high up and not having solid ground underneath you, but it has been tested and used since 2019 by thousands of visitors.
You can take the walk at your own pace, but make sure to look around you because the views are second to none.
One of the most thrilling parts of the SkyBridge is the 30-foot section of see-through glass you walk over right in the middle.
When you stand on the glass you will see a 140-foot drop straight to the bottom of the mountain underneath your feet. It’s pretty thrilling and nowhere else in Gatlinburg can you get an experience like that.
This walking bridge in Gatlinburg, Tennesse, is a thrilling one-of-a-kind experience that we highly recommend anyone visiting the Smokies should do. The views are some of the best in Gatlinburg, and the bridge feels like a thrilling feat to conquer and enjoy. Have you passed the glass? Please visit the SkyLift Park website for any more information and for ticket sales. Then check out this video of Adventuring in the Moment when they went across the SkyBridge.
