What do you do in an hour? How much fun and excitement can you pack into sixty short minutes, how many adventures can you check off, one after the other? Here in Nashville, there's honestly quite a bit you can do. Whether you're looking to indulge in a trail of tacos or a quick tour at a museum, we've got a couple of pretty fun things to experience in the heart of Music City. How many have you done...?
11. Try your hand at the Escape Game.
This quirky game has taken the nation by storm, and Nashville is no exception. There are multiple locations in the city, downtown and on the south side of town, and each offers up an exciting mystery for you and your friends to solve. Bring a group!
10. Walk the greenway at Shelby Bottoms.
At 960-acres, the Shelby Bottoms Greenway is an expansive park that keeps Nashvillians from getting TOO city-esque. You can even walk the greenway straight through to Two Rivers, if you want.
9. Tour the historic (and haunted!) Carnton Plantation.
The Carnton Plantation is known as a premier plantation in middle Tennessee, standing as a strong testament to the history of the south. The Battle of Franklin was fought on the property, so this is a must for all of you history buffs.
8. Walk the loop at Radnor Lake.
Radnor Lake may get a bit touristy during the weekends, but take a mid-morning stroll on a weekday and you're bound to find that much needed solitude. The lake loop is perfect for an hour!
7. Ride bikes through Two Rivers.
Rent a bike for $5 in the park and take it for a spin on the Stones River Greenway. An hour in the sun is a solid hour spent, we say.
6. Take the tour at Olive & Sinclair.
Olive & Sinclair is a locally owned chocolate factory that offers authentic Nashville chocolate and tours on the weekends. You'll get to see how chocolate is made, and enjoy samples of their well-loved chocolate.
5. Visit Rhino Booksellers in West Nashville.
Is there anything better than wandering a used bookstore...? We're big fans of Rhino Books in West Nashville, for its quirky personality and great location.
4. Visit one of our nationally acclaimed coffee shops.
Barista Parlor has three locations in the city, but we'd recommend visiting the original, East Nashville spot. Try their breakfast biscuits (insanely delicious) and snag a cup to enjoy amongst hipsters and freelancers galore.
3. Visit Peeler Park, and walk through the wilderness.
This is one of our favorite, best kept secrets in Nashville. Tucked away off of Neely's Bend in Madison, you can run the greenway or use the boat ramp for a bit of time on the Cumberland.
2. Catch a glimpse of the Athena statue in the parthenon (finally).
If you live in Nashville, you've HEARD about the Athena statue, but have probably been too cheap to pay the entrance fee when there's a perfectly good frisbee field right out front. That being said, this truly is a really interesting experience. A replica of the original Athena statue in Greece, this is history personified.
1. Take a trip through music history with the backstage tour at the Ryman Auditorium.
The Ryman is a great place for history lovers and country music fans alike. Their backstage tour will knock you back an hour, but you'll leave with a ton of fun information about the heart of country music.
These fun, off-the-grid destinations in Nashville are sure to thrill you - check 'em out!
