The 1880 Train Offers Some Of The Most Breathtaking Views In South Dakota

The 1880 Train offers a scenic and historic train ride through South Dakota's Black Hills, featuring stunning views and engaging events.

If you hail from the Mount Rushmore State, you may think that you have seen beautiful SoDak in every way possible. Does this sound about right? While you have probably taken in a great deal of South Dakota's beauty, you have yet to really see it until you have climbed aboard the historic 1880 Train:

All aboard the 1880 Train, which runs from Keystone to Hill City (and back) and features some downright stunning views of the surrounding Black Hills.

Built in 1879 to transport cargo through the area, the 1880 Train is now a passenger-only convoy that gives its guests an opportunity to learn about the area's fascinating mining history as well as enjoy a fun and affordable outing.

During the 2-hour (round-trip) journey, guests of the 1880 Train will enjoy fascinating narration as the locomotive follows the original Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad route and passes such impressive landmarks as Harney Peak.

No matter the time of year, you are guaranteed jaw-dropping views of the Black Hills!

In addition to their daily rides, the 1880 Train hosts several highly-anticipated events, including Old West Shootouts, a Wine Express, Oktoberfest train, and Holiday Express ride.

Admission to the 1880 Train starts at $27 for adults one-way ($32 roundtrip) and $14 for children one-way ($16 roundtrip).
