The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps address: Moraga Street, between 15th & 16th Avenue, San Francisco, 94122
The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps project has been a neighborhood collaboration. The goal was to create a sea-to-stars-themed mosaic, flowing up a 163 step stairway. It's located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Heights neighborhood.
The tiled steps include 163 mosaic panels. The mosaic panels are on the step risers and were created by around 300 neighbors of the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association in 2005.
The art that lines the steps are handmade tiles in the shapes of the animals.
The view from the top is priceless. The top of the steps is a great place to see panoramic views of the city.
If you're lucky you may see the Golden Gate Bridge or better yet, the ocean. Just incredible!
The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps are a neat gem hidden in the hills and they deserve a visit. The steps and views are more than rewarding.
