The Fondue Village Is A Bucket List Dining Experience In Rhode Island

Certain occasions in life call for a more elevated dining experience. And in the case of Ocean House's Fondue Village, that term is taken literally. This luxuriously cozy private dining adventure includes a satisfying three-course lunch or dinner, plus vintage champagne selections. Here's why you won't want to miss it.

Editor's Note: The Fondue Village is no longer offered. However, the Ocean House offers a newer experience in the fall and winter called "Gondola Village."

Ocean House is an iconic resort perched high on the bluffs of Watch Hill.

It comes as no surprise that this stunning vacation destination is the host of this one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Last winter, the Fondue Express opened here, and it was an instant success.

The unique concept immediately received press from publications like Food & Wine, Departures and Forbes magazines.

This year, they added two more gondolas and decided to call it Fondue Village.

The two new additions can seat up to six guests.

Here's how it works: you and the rest of your party will arrive on the Ocean House’s North Lawn, borrow a Columbia Grand Trek down jacket to stay cozy, then enter one of the restored Vermont Ski Gondolas.

There, you'll enjoy a three-course meal, which will be presented by your own private server.

Needless to say, this isn't an inexpensive experience.

This private lunch or dinner costs $400 for up to four guests, $600 for six guests -- and that doesn't include tax and gratuity. You'll also have to pay more if you want Veuve Clicquot champagne.

But ask anyone who's done this and they'll tell you this is well worth the price tag.

When else will you be able to snack on fondue and enjoy a fine dining experience inside a gondola?

The Fondue Village will be at Ocean House through March 31, and it's pretty fantastic.

Lunch is served Wednesday - Sunday at 4 p.m., and dinner is served Wednesday - Saturday and two separate times.
