This Rare Footage Of A Rhode Island Amusement Park Will Have You Longing For The Good Old Days

Rocky Point Amusement Park in Rhode Island, a beloved family destination, closed in 1995 but remains a nostalgic spot for many.

If you grew up in Rhode Island, chances are you remember Rocky Point Amusement Park. This park, which operated from the 1840s until its closing in 1995 was the state's beloved go-to place for family excursions. Many of us have fond childhood memories of holding our breath on the Corkscrew and anxiously waiting in line for the Log Flume, only to feast on clam cakes and chowder soon after. Many of us also remember that stinging of betrayal when the park eventually filed for bankruptcy and closed for good in the mid 90s.

Though the rides and attractions have been sold off, the park still stands in Warwick as a lovely place to reminisce and take in nature. You can also see old memorabilia and enjoy the same recipes at Rocky Point Clam Shack just a few miles from the park. If that's not enough, here are two great short videos to jump start your nostalgia.
