BreakTime Bowl and Bar is a duckpin bowling alley in Pawtucket. The alley was once a perk for workers at the Hope Webbing Company Mill but is now open to the public. The alley was built in the 1920s as an amenity for employees to keep them from going on strike.
Reopened a few years ago, the alley and remains much the same as it was in its early years. The flooring was refinished and a bar was added. Yet the rustic industrial feel is still alive.
Though times have changed, the lanes have not been modified with electrical pinsetters. It remains as it was in the early days, each pin being reset by hand.
Toss your ball down the lane and the pinsetters will grab the scattered pins and send the ball back down the wooden shoot.
The space has five duckpin bowling alleys. Keep your score by hand tallying strikes and spares on paper, there's no electronic scoring at this throwback spot. Reminiscent of times past, this alley has become a popular place for all ages.
