The Ice Skating Rink In Rhode Island Where You Can Skate All Winter Long
Even if we spend the coldest months of the year counting down to spring, we can probably agree - albeit somewhat begrudgingly if we're not a fan of the cold - that winter in Rhode Island is absolutely magical too. Carve out some time this winter to lace up your skates and go ice skating in Providence, Rhode Island. It's perhaps one of the most relaxing and enchanting ways to spend a winter day and one of the best things to do in winter in Rhode Island.
While summer may mean long leisurely days at the beach, winter in Rhode Island promises just as much fun - from tubing to sledding. For an enchanting winter adventure, head to The Providence Rink at BankNewport City Center.
If you can't make it ice skating this winter, no worries. The Providence Rink offers roller skating and roller hockey in the warmer months. Or get your groove on with a bit of Roller Disco, held annually from June through the end of October.
Slip on a pair of rental ice skates (or bring your own) for a three-hour ice skating session. As long as the weather allows, the Providence Rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from early December through mid-March.
However, the ice rink sometimes hosts special events, and the day's hours may change as a result.
Don't worry if you've never ice skated or feel a bit unsteady on the ice. Fireworks Skating Academy offers both private and group lessons at the Providence Rink.
If you don't feel comfortable on the ice, you can also rent a skate aid. Skate aids are available for both kids and adults.
The fun doesn't stop with ice skating, though. The Providence Rink also hosts ice bumper cars, so you can zip and zoom around the ice.
Each ice bumper car session lasts 15 minutes.
The Providence Rink is also available for rent, during the after-hours, for hockey.
If you're driving to the Providence Rink, park at one of the nearby lots, such as the Union Station Parking Garage or the Providence Place Mall Parking Garage.
If you park at Union Station, you can get your ticket validated for three hours. Just ask at the rink.
Find more information and make reservations on the official website of The Providence Rink. Or, stop by the Facebook page of BankNewport City Center.
