Are you ready for the treasure hunt of the season? If so, then lace up your hiking boots and head to the Willamette National Forest.

Park rangers have hidden 200 hand-blown, locally crafted ornaments along several trails in the forest.

If you find an ornament, you get to keep it! Then you can register it on the Willamette Valley Oregon Wine Country website for a chance to win a trip for two to the Willamette Valley.

As of December 19, 2019, more than 100 ornaments are still out there, waiting to be found.

With 1.5 million acres to explore, you might need a few hints before you start looking. Each ranger district has a list of trails where ornaments have been placed.

In the Detroit Ranger District, the Bugaboo Ridge trail is one of many where ornaments were hidden.

In the Sweet Home Ranger District, 13 different trails have ornaments to find, including the Browder Ridge trail, shown here.

The Hardesty Mountain Trail is a gorgeous trail in the Middle Fork Ranger District, and it has ornaments waiting to be found.

You'll also want to look on the Castle Rock trail in the McKenzie River Ranger District. It's one of just three trails that are hiding ornaments.

While you're out there scouting for ornaments, remember to practice Leave No Trace principles, and take only photos...and one ornament if you can find one.

Each ornament has a geo tag, so any that aren't found will be removed by forest rangers after the contest is over on January 1, 2020. Good luck!

Visit Willamette Valley Oregon Wine Country's website for more details, and make sure to follow its Facebook page for ornament updates! You'll also want to check out the U.S. National Forest Service - Willamette National Forest Facebook page for a list of locations where ornaments still haven't been found.
