The Christmas Village in Oregon That Becomes Even More Magical Year After Year

If you're like most Oregonians, the holiday season is a time of traditions. It is a season full of activities that fill you with cheer and immediately put a smile on your face. This year, one activity that deserves to be at the top of your holiday bucket list is the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights in Roseburg. This enchanting annual event features a magical holiday village, a dazzling light show with thousands of Christmas lights, and the world's tallest nutcracker.

For 33 years, the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights has been a magical holiday tradition in the Beaver State. It has been on several must-visit holiday lists and is one of the largest light displays in the Northwest. And after you visit just once, you'll understand why it's considered one of the best.

The Festival of Lights features more than 500,000 colorful Christmas lights and 90 animated displays at River Forks Park in Roseburg. You’ll spot holiday characters and even a few movie favorites (think characters from Disney’s “Frozen”). You will stay warm as you drive through these light displays and allow the holiday magic to fill your heart.

The Umqua Valley Festival of Lights opens at River Forks Park on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, and continues through Jan. 1, 2026. Each vehicle is charged a small fee, and all proceeds help pay for the Roseburg Rotary Club scholarships and service projects.

And while the light displays are pretty spectacular, they aren't the only things to see and do at this Oregon event. Your ticket also gives you access to the World’s Largest Nutcracker—at an impressive 41 feet tall!—and the Dutch Bros Holiday Village. This holiday village is where children of all ages can visit Santa Claus or even write letters to him if he’s busy at the North Pole. There’s even a dancing lights display, a model railroad, decorated Christmas trees to admire, and yummy treats to purchase.
