Visit The Blue Whale, One Of The Most Iconic Roadside Attractions In Oklahoma

One of the most recognizable iconic attractions on Route 66 can be found in Catoosa at The Blue Whale. Tourists from all over the world make their way to this attraction in Oklahoma and we highly recommend a visit the next time you're traveling along The Mother Road.

The Blue Whale was built in the 1970s by Hugh Davis as an anniversary gift for his wife who was a whale figurine collector.

It underwent a major restoration project after falling into disrepair and is now an iconic roadside attraction along Route 66. It has been featured on several television programs, including a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC titled "Attractions".

The park is open every day to visitors. You'll see many tourist buses and travelers throughout the week making a stop to catch a photo with the large whale.

Admission is free to enter. You can even go into the whale and spend some time fishing or relaxing.

Be sure to also catch a photo with the mileage sign, another fan favorite at this attraction.

This spot is also the perfect place to have a picnic. Pack a lunch and enjoy the fresh breeze and scenes of nature. Swimming is no longer allowed in the pond.

You'll also find an on-site gift shop that is open Wednesday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 - 6:00 p.m. You can pick up some whale memorabilia to take back home with you.
