Can’t Make It to Paris? Try This Ohio Alternative
If a European vacation isn't in the cards, there's an Eiffel Tower replica at Kings Island in Ohio. Ride to the top and enjoy breathtaking views.
If you've lived in the Buckeye State for any significant amount of time, there's a good chance you've seen the Eiffel Tower replica at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. Standing 314 feet tall, this popular attraction is only one-third the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it's the highest point in the park. While there's no restaurant in this tower, you can still ride to the top and enjoy sweeping views of the park and the surrounding landscape. If I wanted to take a European vacation but didn't have the time or money to make it happen, this is where I would go in Ohio.
At first glance, you'll think you're looking at the Eiffel Tower itself. Even though it isn't to scale, it's still a replica, so the structure and overall appearance are similar. Like the real thing, the Eiffel Tower at Kings Island isn't just for show. You're certainly encouraged to photograph it and pose for pictures at the base, but you can also take an elevator ride to the top. Thanks to high-speed elevators, the ride only takes 30 seconds, so you won't have to wait long to see what all the hype is about. Staff members accompany riders and share interesting facts about the tower. For example, did you know it took 93 days and 700 gallons of paint to complete the structure?
At the top, a wraparound observation deck provides 360-degree views of the Southeast Ohio countryside. Lush greenery extends for miles in all directions, and it's a truly breathtaking sight. Another perk is that you can scope out the park and see what you want to ride next. You can see all of the attractions from up here, so if you start with the Eiffel Tower, you can develop a game plan for the rest of the day. I would suggest prioritizing roller coasters since they tend to have the longest lines. The deck also features a binocular stand, allowing you to gaze far into the distance. You can see up to 18 miles away on a clear day!
Visit the Kings Island website to learn more about the Eiffel Tower observation deck, including rider safety information, as well as park hours and ticket prices. The attraction is wheelchair accessible.
When's the last time you visited the Eiffel Tower replica at Kings Island? It may not be the real thing, but it's pretty good for the Buckeye State. After spending a day at the park, check out more of the best things to do in Cincinnati from a lifelong local (who happens to be one of our very own editors). From hidden gems to popular attractions, the Queen City is truly a crown jewel.
King's Island isn't the only place where you can get a taste of Europe in Ohio. The charming town of Sugarcreek is known as the "Little Switzerland of Ohio," and Dublin has a rich Irish culture that's impossible not to love.
