In the past, winter has consisted of epic sledding, Polar Putt-Putt, and movie showings.
Families have adored these annual festivities for ages, but Lock 3 knows how to keep things interesting. They're constantly mixing up which movies are shown each year, and they frequently incorporate new events.
One of the newer attractions at Lock 3 is ice bumper cars, and they're a hit with fans.
Ice bumper cars are exactly what they sound like! These bumper cars are just like the ones you remember from your childhood, but they slip, slide, and glide across the ice.
A fun alternative to traditional ice skating, ice bumper car reservations can be made online or in person.
You'll definitely want to check the event calendar and plan your adventure, as this popular event can get busy.
For safety purposes, bumper car drivers must be at least six years old and 42” tall.
If too young or too short to operate bumper cars, children must be between the ages of 3 and 6 to ride with an adult over the age of 18.
If bumper cars aren't your style, you might prefer a more traditional ice skating experience.
Ice skating is offered all throughout the winter season.
And no matter which event you take part in, the fascinating design of Lock 3 will intrigue and inspire you.
The historic canal towpath at Lock 3 was exposed for the first time in nearly a century when Akron decided to demolish surrounding buildings in 2001. Nowadays, its impressive path is lit up by brilliant color changing lights.
