The Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site is one of the most beautiful historic sites in North Dakota.

It is located in the capital city of Bismarck and is a free-to-visit attraction everyone should see at least once. The large, green mansion was built in 1884 and still looks like it's in its prime.

The interior is kept pristine with many original features and vintage artifacts. It was originally a private residence but became the official governors' home in 1893.

The mansion housed 20 different governors from then until 1960. Later, it was given to the State Historical Society of North Dakota to become the museum it is today.

When you take a tour of the house you'll see an interesting glimpse into the life and luxuries of the governors from back then. It was restored to look like it did in the late 1800s.

The mansion isn't the only thing you can see when you visit, the property also has an old carriage house that has also been restored inside and out.

Inside the building is an old carriage and other fascinating things you can look at. The whole historic site is full of things to see and learn about, and every North Dakotan should visit it at least once.
