Ride Through North Carolina’s Wintry Landscape On The Scaly Screamer Mountain Coaster
North Carolina's second alpine coaster, the Scaly Screamer, offers thrilling rides and additional activities at Highlands Outpost.
Guess what, North Carolina?!! Our second alpine coaster just opened a couple months ago and we couldn't be happier to have two mountain coasters in North Carolina to whirl us through the mountainside. Let's check the new one out:
The Scaly Screamer Mountain Coaster opened in late September 2021 at Scaly Mountain - also known as Highlands Outpost in Scaly Mountain (map below).
Hop aboard and prepare to scream in delight along the 3,800-foot track that whirls and twirls through the mountain terrain.
Scaly Mountain Screamer boasts of being the longest mountain coaster in the state and it includes some thrilling 360-degree turns that just may make a chill run up your spine.
The website says the Screamer is open through January 10th, however, the website's calendar clearly details the coaster is open weekends through March 26.
Coaster tickets are sold in-person on a first-come, first-served basis so get there early if you want to ride. But don't think the Scaly Screamer is the only activity you'll find here at Highlands Outpost.
There's also a snow tubing hill!
And when the weather allows, the attraction sets up a pop-up ice skating rink, too!
Don't worry if it's not snowing, Highlands Outpost at Scaly Mountain has a snow making machine that solves that issue.
And the Scaly Screamer doesn't need any snow to keep on truckin'.
North Carolina is a BIG place. Wondering how far you'll need to drive to get to the new alpine coaster?
Highlands Outpost is located way over in the western part of the state, way down at the Georgia/North Carolina border.
The site also has the Outpost Cafe where you can fill up on grilled chicken, burgers, and fries while you spend the day enjoying this new mountain coaster in North Carolina and all the other activities available on-site. Learn all about it from the coaster's official website, here.
