North Carolina’s Magical Land Of Oz Is Re-Opening And You Can Book A Private Tour

If you've ever wanted to take a journey through the wonderful world of The Wizard of Oz, now's your chance. The Land of Oz in North Carolina is re-opening for private tours, and it's every bit as magical and mysterious as its fictional namesake implies.

The theme park, located in Beech Mountain, has a curious history. It first opened in 1970, but the death of the owner and a fire that burned down Emerald City contributed to its closure in 1980. The park stood abandoned for over a decade until it was re-opened in 1991 for just one day. In the following years, the park has opened for a brief period of time. This year, however, the park will be open for private tours from June 17th until August 2nd on each day of the week except for Mondays and Tuesdays. Visiting this park is reservation-only, so if you're ready to book your spot, click here!

Here in North Carolina, following the Yellow Brick Road isn't just a lyric from a lovely song. It's a beloved activity one can enjoy at the Land of Oz in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.

Did you know? This massive winding trail reaches all the way around the top of Beech Mountain and is made of 44,000 actual yellow bricks.

In its decades of existence, the park has given families from all over a chance to experience the magical story come to life.

This summer, as you might imagine, the park is taking precautions to avoid crowds. Luckily, the solution offers an even more magical way to experience the park: a private group tour!

Unfortunately, there won't be any characters present. However, a Land of Oz theme park representative will offer an extensive behind-the-scenes look at this iconic North Carolina landmark.

The 90-minute tour will include Gale Kansas Farm, the Judy Garland Memorial Overlook, Fountain of Youth, and the tornado cellar. Having these mountain views framed by yellow bricks is one you won't soon forget.

The best part of all? You can dress up as your favorite characters and pretend you've been transported to the real Oz.
