The Moravian Cookie Factory Tour In North Carolina That’s Melt In Your Mouth Delicious

For most people, just the words "gourmet cookie" are enough to inspire daydreams of heavenly flavors crossing paths with our taste buds. If that's making your mouth water, then just think of sweet, crispy, FRESH, Moravian cookies and pair that thought with a tour of the factory that makes them. We have a lot of wonderful things right here in our own back yard in North Carolina, but Mrs. Hanes Hand-Made Moravian Cookie factory will soon become one of your very favorite places to visit.

Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookie factory is located in Clemmons, North Carolina, approximately 20 miles southwest of Winston-Salem.

The family-run business has a long history of Moravian cookie makers. Those on site today are the seventh and eighth generations that have passed down the art of making magical Moravian cookies.

In spite of the enormous business the company does (worldwide), each cookie is hand rolled, hand pressed and hand cut to perfection.

And you can take a tour to see the entire process (and sample to goods!).

The tour lasts approximately one hour and must be scheduled in advance. (No walk-up tours allowed, please.) You'll discover the secrets to producing such a large amount of orders... one of which is a giant mixer than can hold enough dough for 1,000 cookies!

Watch as the dough is patted and rolled. You may even get to see the flavor being rolled right into the dough.

Each rolled sheet is then carefully cut by hand. Shapes, flavors, and colors are often correlated to upcoming seasons.

Tours are available to groups (gather up several of your friends) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from January through October. Tours must be scheduled in advance. To schedule a tour, call 336-764-1402. The cost is $5 per person. The walk-in sales counter at the factory is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
