People Come From All Over to See This Massive Christmas Lights Display in North Carolina

One of my all-time favorite parts of the holiday season (aside from the real reason for the season) is checking out the Holt Road Christmas Lights display. If you ask me, it’s easily among the best Christmas lights in North Carolina. Did you know that the origin of holiday lights traces back to when Christmas trees were lit up with candles? The candles signified Christ lighting the world. Fast forward to the mid-1900s when folks in America began affixing strings of lights to their trees and outlining their homes during the holidays — and, thankfully, that tradition is still alive, especially along Holt Road in Apex, NC. Check out the Holt Road Christmas Lights and feel the spirit of the season in your heart. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this holiday drive-through light display this year. 

This year's grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, November 28th, 2024.

If you're anywhere near Raleigh this season, you should take a short drive over to Apex to check out the Holt Road Christmas Lights. You'll be so glad you did! Opening on Thanksgiving Day, the lights are installed and powered at a single-family residence. It's a large home that's outlined in its entirety and surrounded on all sides of the property with display after lighted display. The holiday cheer is definitely alive and well at this gorgeous house.

And what's more, through their non-profit organization, the homeowners charge a small tax-deductible fee for this incredible Christmas light show. Much of the proceeds from this go to local and international charities. This is just their way of giving back to the community.

When you’re at this festive holiday event, prepare to be inspired. Prepare to add a few lights to your own home when you return. Prepare to want to see this all over again next year, or even to make it a regular tradition each year during the holiday season!

It's very important to note: The Holt Road Christmas Lights are only on select nights throughout the season. Be sure to check the schedule before driving over.

Some nights the lights are turned on but the property is hosting a closed event. And always be aware this home is located in a neighborhood. If you're bringing snacks to have while you wait to enter, also bring a garbage bag so your items don't accidentally get tossed out the window.
