Oyster Bay's annual Oyster Festival is a major fall event featuring oysters, live music, amusement rides, and various vendors.

There's no question: Long Islanders know how to party. If you're looking to have a good time this fall, then head to Oyster Bay for its annual Oysterfest, The Oyster Festival. In 2022, it's October 15th and 16th, so you can start counting down the days to the 39th year of this amazing community event. The Oyster Festival, also known as Oysterfest or OysterFestival, is a huge deal on the north shore of Long Island's Nassau County. It takes place along the waterfront in Oyster Bay, a town named for oysters. People have been harvesting oysters in this area for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

Oysters are a big part of the culture around here, so it makes sense that people want to come out and celebrate these tasty little bivalves.

And boy, do they come out to celebrate. This event is packed all weekend every year - but the crowds and camaraderie are a big part of the fun!

There's lots to do at Oysterfest. Boats and ships come for people to tour and admire.

There's a large amusement area that includes rides and games.

You'll find lots of vendors selling their wares. Many are sea-themed, as you might imagine, but there's something for everyone here.

Many local, community organizations are present at Oysterfest, too. You can learn more about them and offer your support.

There's a stage for live music at the festival and you can hear local bands play all weekend.

Of course, there are lots of oyster-focused activities and attractions at the festival also. The oyster shucking and oyster eating contests are very popular.

So many of the vendors offer fresh oysters and other seafood dishes for you to try. The food at this festival is top notch.
