When you travel to the LSU Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge, you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time.
This outdoor museum is jam-packed with Louisiana history. You’ll walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding for our heritage through all of the artifacts and architecture found here.
The museum holds the largest collection of Louisiana architecture in the state.
They also have the most extensive collection of cultural artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries.
You’ll tour through 32 buildings, spanning more than 25 acres.
Some of the buildings include a working plantation, post office, slave cabins, blacksmith shop, and so much more.
You’ll get to see what life was like for rural Louisianians more than a century ago.
From the tools they used to the spaces they lived, you’ll get the opportunity to see their day to day lives.
It’s truly a fascinating place that will leave you with a greater appreciation for those that came before us — and how far we have come.
