Because there are so many tourists in New Orleans, it can sometimes feel hard to come by cozy or unexplored places in the city. Plus, there are some places that no matter how many people know about them, still give you that feeling like you’ve discovered your own private paradise in New Orleans. These are the 16 hidden gems in New Orleans that will take your breath away!

1) F&F Botanical Shop, 801 N. Broad St.

This long running shop offers a wide range of spiritual incense, tools, and of course, candles.

2) Uptown Costume & Dancewear, 4326 Magazine Street

Right off the Mardi Gras parade route at Napoleon and Magazine Street, you can find one of the most amazing costume shops in the city. Literally anything you can imagine, plus all the accessories you need to shine. Definitely worth the trip.

3) Faulkner House Books, 624 Pirates Alley

Tucked on the alley between Royal Street and Jackson Sq, the home that William Faulkner lived in when he wrote Soldier's Pay is now an amazing book store. It is tiny for sure, but packed to the brim with excellent choices. Feels like walking into your grandfather's library.

4) Zotz, 8210 Oak Street

This funky uptown coffee shop is filled to the brim with tchotchkes, games, and plenty of places to spread out.

5) Antieau Gallery, French Quarter, 927 Royal St.

The beautiful and sweet gallery showcases the amazing art of Chris Antieau, whose gorgeous quilted artworks spread joy to all who get a chance to see them.

6) Homedale Inn, 618 Homedale St.

Open since 1937, you never know what to expect when you walk into this tavern at the edge of Lakeview and Old Metairie. That's what makes it awesome.

7) Aidan Gill For Men, 2026 Magazine Street

I'm not a man, but from what I've heard, the shaves here are unlike any other you can get in New Orleans -- or anywhere nearby for that matter.

8) Cherry Espresso Bar, 4877 Laurel Street

Once a tiny pop-up within Stein's deli, this new coffee shop in the Uptown area is the definition of cozy. Plus, the coffee is delicious.

9) Neutral Ground Coffee House, 510 Danneel Street

A bondafide New Orleans institution, many folk singers and musicians found their spot at the open mic nights here. The rest of the place feels like a living room, with plenty of games to entertain everyone you're with. Definitely worth the visit.

10) Hong Kong Market, 925 Behrman Hwy, Gretna, LA

For those with a taste for all things Asian inspired, this market is the place for you. Where else in New Orleans can you get all the ingredients for high quality pho?

11) Harold’s, 2900 St. Claude Ave.

The gardens at Harold's will definitely get you fiending for your very own garden.

12) Old Point Bar, 545 Patterson Dr.

This Algiers Point spot offers a low-key hang out and live music that is sure to entertain the crowds.

13) Snake and Jakes Christmas Club Lounge, 7612 Oak Street

Although Snake and Jakes is well known, I still consider it hidden to the extent that it would be easy to walk by, and have no idea it was even there. The veritable definition of a dive bar, this is the spot to forget your worries after 2am.

14) French Quarter Gem & Lapidary, 527 St. Philip Street

An amazing little shop nestled in the quarter, that can take care of all your gem and crystal needs.

15) Parisite Skate Park, 1606 Pleasure St #1600

Through many struggles and fundraising and collaborations, the first official skatepark in New Orleans is the place to test out your skills.

16) The Munch Factory, 6325 Elysian Fields Ave.

Tucked in a spot where you wouldn't necessarily expect to find fine dining, the food here is simply awesome.
