Madrid, New Mexico Is Hiding The Best Little Photo Park You’ve Never Heard Of
Madrid, New Mexico, offers unique attractions like Connie's Photo Park and Southern dining at The Hollar.
There's no question Madrid is one of the most unique places you'll encounter here in New Mexico. Shifting from mining town to ghost town to an out-of-the-way eccentric artists' community, it's become known for being one place you won't soon forget. There are quite a few cool things to do during a visit here — such as dining at the old tavern and purchasing unique folk art or antiques — so be prepared to add another stop to your trip here.
Welcome to the wonderfully unique Connie's Photo Park! Located right along NM-14, it is has a central location that is difficult to miss when driving through town.
The photo park is an outdoor photo studio filled with unique, New Mexico-themed stand-ins, those stick-your-head-in-the-hole boards so you can take silly portraits.
Take a pic of yourself, family, or friends as Old West characters...
...bikers who could easily be in a scene from “Easy Rider”...
...or whatever else strikes your fancy!
Each stand-in is hand-painted by Connie herself who owns and maintains the park. As a photographer, she also is available to assist with taking your portrait as well.
If you prefer something with just a smidgen more authenticity, you can also opt to rent Western garb for your portraits. There are several backdrops to choose from, such as a stagecoach and a saloon.
The costumes are available to rent for just $5 each, so feel free to go wild with multiple costume changes!
Connie's Photo Park is located in Madrid and is open daily.
The photo park is open to the public and takes donations for use. You can find additional information about the park and Western portraits by visiting the park's Facebook page.
