Watch Holiday Movies Around A Campfire At This New Mexico Drive-In Theater

There's something so incredibly nostalgic about watching a flick at a drive-in movie theater. Once upon a time, there were over 4,000 drive-in theaters around the country. Today, only 321 remain. However, a newer permanent drive-in was built in 2020 in the village of Los Lunas in Valencia County. Badlands Drive-In has 100 parking spots and one screen and, while newer, it still has a bit of that nostalgic feel. During the winter at this New Mexico Drive-In, holiday movies will be shown and you can enjoy them while sitting around a campfire.

Located in the village of Los Lunas is the Badlands Drive-In. While most drive-ins around the country were built many decades ago, Badlands Drive-In first opened in 2020.

This outdoor movie theater has become a popular place for locals to enjoy watching a flick. This holiday season, Badlands Drive-In will be showing a few different Christmas classics and you can purchase a campfire add-on with your ticket to enhance the experience.

In mid-December, three holiday classics will be shown on the big screen: Polar Express will be shown on Dec. 15, Elf will be shown on Dec. 16, and The Grinch will be shown on Dec. 17, 2023. Be sure to book your tickets in advance!

Ticket prices per vehicle are $15. However, if you'd like to upgrade to the campfire option, the cost is $30. How fun would it be, though, to make s'more over the campfire while watching a holiday classic? Sounds pretty awesome to me!

On the day of the show, arrive early enough to watch the sunset before showtime. You know how gorgeous our sunsets are! Shows start after sundown.
