Celebrate Native American Culture At The 101st Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial In New Mexico This August

The small city of Gallup is one with a history that's deep-rooted in Native American culture. With several tribes including Zuni, Hopi, and Navajo, among others, as well as archaeological sites that date back to the Anasazi, Gallup is known as the "Indian Capital of the World." A huge part of the city's population is of Native American descent as well and to celebrate, the 101st Annual Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial in New Mexico will be held this August. It's an incredible celebration to be a part of and witness, so save the dates for this remarkable event.

From August 4 through August 13, 2023, the 101st Annual Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial will be held. This cultural event started in 1922 and has been going strong ever since.

This cultural event is internationally recognized and attracts people from all around the world who wish to witness this celebration of Native American heritage.

So, what should you expect when attending the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial? Well, over the course of eight days, there is a packed calendar of events that include art, music, performances, dance, film screenings, and more.

Most of the festival will take place at Red Rock Park located at 825 Outlaw Road in Church Rock, NM. This park is best known for Red Rock Arena. Parade events during the festival will take place in downtown Gallup.

One of the most fascinating parts of the Ceremonial is the Traditional Night Performance. Several tribes show off their dancing and singing in an enjoyable cultural celebration.

Rodeo is also a big part of the Ceremonial and is a huge part of Native American culture. Rodeo events include roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

And the much-anticipated Contest Pow Wow is not to be missed! Enjoy singing, dancing, tribal regalia, and more in a colorful cultural display.
