There’s a Kayak Tour in New Jersey With the Best View of New York City You’ve Ever Seen
Paddle through the Hudson River for up-close-and-personal views.
Summer is a favorite time of the year for many of us. There's so much to see, do, and experience while the weather is warm, the sun is shining, and outdoor adventures are right at our fingertips. One of my favorite things to do during the summer months is to kayak. There's something so freeing about paddling on the water and soaking up the scenery in a way you just can't while standing on land.
While I love taking summer road trips, I'd rather spend my time on a kayak. If you want to take in some of the most iconic views in our country from a kayak this summer in New Jersey, there's a tour experience you won't want to miss.
Based in Hoboken, New Jersey, Resilience Paddle Sports offers kayaking tours along the Hudson River. The company is owned by Noelle, who started Resilience Paddle Sports to "connect urban populations to the Hudson River estuary through kayaking and paddleboarding." The Manhattan Skyline Kayak Eco Tour runs from spring to fall and offers an unforgettable view of the Big Apple.
You'll meet your guide and the rest of the group at Pier 13 to begin your adventure. After a safety demo and some instructions, you'll put on a life jacket, grab a paddle, and board a kayak. The tour company provides all equipment—you can take out a single or a double kayak if you want to work together with a friend.
The group and your expert guide will embark on a 90-minute paddling journey through the Hudson River estuary. The river runs between New Jersey and New York City, so you'll be able to see some of the most iconic views in the U.S. from your kayak. Believe me, you've never seen this side of the New York City skyline like this before!
Seeing the iconic architecture, such as the Empire State Building, The Freedom Tower, or Hudson Yards, from a kayak is something to behold. Your jaw will probably drop a few times as you cruise along the Hudson River on your watercraft. You may want to invest in a waterproof cell phone pouch before the trip so you can take photos without worrying. Your guide will also be more than happy to take pictures of you on a kayak to remember this incredible experience.
If you want to have an adventure on the water while taking in epic views of the New York City skyline, this kayaking tour is one of the best things to do in New Jersey in summer. Book this tour directly through Resilience Paddle Sports' website; tickets start at $50/person on weekdays and $60/person on weekends. Overall, it's a fantastic way to experience New Jersey and NYC during spring, summer, or fall.
Beginner, intermediate, and advanced tours are available. In total, the tour lasts about 1.5 hours. Cancelations can be made 48 hours in advance, and tours may get rescheduled due to weather. Learn more about whether children are allowed on tours by calling ahead or emailing the tour owners.
