The Corbin Covered Bridge Festival In New Hampshire Is A Unique Way To Spend A Fall Day

The Corbin Covered Bridge Festival in Newport, New Hampshire celebrates the 25th anniversary of the bridge's rebuilding with various community events.

Nothing else says New Hampshire like a classic covered bridge. We have so many of these quintessentially New England structures, that we once dedicated an entire road trip to finding them! As we slowly but surely ease into fall we're especially looking forward to the annual festival that celebrates one particularly lovely covered bridge here in the Granite State.

The Corbin Covered Bridge located in Newport is one of the most lovely examples of the state's beautiful covered bridges.

Located just west of Route 10 on North Newport Road and a short two miles from of Newport Village, it's easy to find.

The bridge was built in approximately 1845 and measures about 96 feet long.

It was built to allow for traffic to cross over the Croydon Branch of the Sugar River, but in 1993 it was the victim of arson.

But don't despair! It was rebuilt by the community in 1994 and this year's Corbin Covered Bridge Festival celebrates the 25th anniversary of the rebuilding efforts.

In addition to simply celebrating the bridge, there are plenty of scheduled events to simply celebrate the town and covered bridges everywhere.

Events include cow patty bingo, a 5k road race, a performance by the Newmont Military Band, a 50/50 raffle. There's even going to be the firing of a Civil War cannon!

You can see the full list of scheduled events here. Even if you can't stick around for all the events, be sure to come and appreciate the workmanship that went into making sure this community structure has stayed a part of town.

The Corbin Covered Bridge Festival takes place October 12th, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can learn more about it through their website. You can learn more about the Newport Historical Society here.
