Nestled amongst the mountains not far from both Reno and Carson City, you'll find another one of our cities that at times, can look like it was pulled straight out of an Old Western movie. While many will come to visit Virginia City to take a look at one of our most popular ghost towns, another historic attraction that draws in a crowd is the Silver Terrace Cemeteries.
Prepared to find out what has everyone so interested in this place? The stories behind this cemetery will surely give you goosebumps.
Established in the mid 1800's, the Silver Terrace Cemeteries have an interesting history.
The majority of people buried in this Nevada cemetery were miners in the Comstock Lode and their family members. The large cemetery is sectioned off by fencing, created for all the different miner's religions.
While each section of the overall cemetery has had its own name overtime, now to make things easier the property is just simply referred to as the Silver Terrace Cemeteries.
While many parts of the cemetery have withered away with time, Silver Terrace is considered to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in our entire state.
Take a visit during the day and you'll see the jaw-dropping headstones and graves of this cemetery. The property is huge and looks like something out of a movie, a bucket list worthy location!
No matter how beautiful, this cemetery has quite this history of being haunted.
Once you see this cemetery in person, it comes as no surprise to hear that it's long been haunted. A area of this size with so many graves? It only makes sense that at least of few of them are still lingering around.
One of the spirits reportedly seen here? An old groundskeeper who may have been up to no good.
Several stories surround the spirit of the groundskeeper. Some claim the man actually buried bodies within one of the tombs here, while others say he lingers around in sadness over how decrepit the cemeteries have become.
Even those who have not actually seen ghosts here will tell you that the area has a very eerie vibe.
Many things about this large cemetery convince visitors that spirits are still lingering around here. Some who have come here feel that the spirits are friendly and mean no harm, while others appear to be determined to frighten you.
